This is my story
Words and pictures have been a passion my entire life.
I have always been driven to create. A major in art history seemed a natural choice because I wanted to learn about artists, colour, composition, and subject matter. I also wanted to learn how images have affected and contributed to history since our ancestors first learned to add colour to cave walls more than 40,000 years ago.
As an art history student I continued to develop my visual art practice. After completing my master’s degree I started working for the government. At the time, my paid employment did not allow for creativity. I needed to find a new way to invite art back into my life so I enrolled as a graphic design major.
Finally, I had art in my life again. Not only that, I could now use my 16 years formal training in art history and graphic design combined with a lifetime of creative solutions to help clients make their vision a graphic design reality.
Pictures are awesome.
Let’s create something beautiful.
Words are powerful.
They are the essence of our ideas and the most efficient form of communication.
As a master’s student I taught undergrad students. I also graded their essays and other assignments. This taught me two very important things: 1) clear writing, good spelling, and a basic understanding of English grammar does not come naturally to everyone, and 2) I actually enjoyed editing student writing.
During this same period Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynn Truss was required reading for one of my courses. Reading that little book was like an epiphany. My affection for words and language was ensconced, and I am not ashamed to admit that I became a grammar nerd!
Words are awesome.
Let’s write something beautiful.
Today, I get to take my love of words and pictures and combine them to create beautiful projects for my clients. Whether it is proofing a thesis, creating a monthly newsletter, or designing a company logo — let me help you make your visual imaginings soar.
